In order to run Windows smoothly, you need to know more about the minimum hardware requirements first. I have tested many versions of Windows on desktops and laptops around my real store for years. In my opinion, you at least need 512M physical memory to run XP smoothly. Vista and Windows 7 need more than 1G even. Adding more memory is the fastest way to fix Windows slow startup problem.
If you have enough RAM but Windows boots still slow, then the problem should be attributed to the programs and services that run at startup. And you'd better disable some unnecessary programs and services now.
Please do it carefully. Disabling services and start-up items incorrectly might cause Windows instability, even system crash. So you'd better select a good tool to do it for you.
Defragment hard drive regularly - It is a good tip to speed up Windows startup. User operations will cause a lot of fragments in discontinuous blocks on your drive. Defragment program can put these fragments together for you. This will shorten the read time of files to prevent slowing Windows boot up.
Clean up registry frequently - This is another way to fix Windows slow startup problem. Windows will scan all registry entries before logging in. Too many void registry entries will decrease computer performance greatly and lengthen Windows boot up time. So please don't forget to maintain your registry daily. Fortunately, you can easily select a good registry optimizer on the internet market.
If you have done everything but Windows startup is still slow, Tweak Windows and Scan Windows for free by using Top3 Registry Optimizer now!
